The Q&A Archives: Container Tomatoes

Question: What tomatoes can be grown in containers - including hanging baskets?

Answer: Any tomato can be grown in a container if the container is big enough. Tomato roots grow about 12 inches deep, so containers should be at least 18 inches deep to allow for root development and good drainage. Bush Early Girl's compact size is great for containers. Tumbler Hybrid is bred for hanging baskets.
