The Q&A Archives: Strawberries With Yellow Flowers

Question: We just recently bought an old house that has strawberries in the backyard that have yellow blooms. Can you tell me what kind they are and if I should try saving them.

Answer: In most cases the smaller strawberry plants that grow wild are the weedy "barren" strawberries and are not good to eat. You might keep an eye on a few just to make sure, but in most cases these would be considered a weed that has outcompeted the lawn.
