I have a small pot of dwarf carnations and would like to plat them in my flower bed, but I do not know if they can be done like that. Do they need full sun or part sun. Do they come back every year. Can they even be put in flower beds. Could you please send any info that you can on these?
Thank you so much for your time. Gina

There are many different kinds of carnations (Dianthus) and most of the shorter types do make good garden flowers. They need a spot in full sun and average soil that is well drained, meaning not soggy. They also do best in a location with good air circulation. Most types will come back every year.
