The Q&A Archives: Ripening Peppers

Question: I had trouble getting my peppers to ripen this season. Any suggestions?

Answer: Just treat your plants well to keep them healthy: feed them moderately (not too much nitrogen), water regularly, mulch to keep soil moisture even, and cover plants with a lightweight fabric row cover (available from Gardens Alive, 5100 Schenely Pl., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025; ph# 812/537-8650). This will increase the temperature around the plants to hasten ripening.<br>
