| I have read (somewhere) that if you are planting annual flower seeds by scattering them on top of the soil that's it's a good idea to mix them with some potting soil and sand to hold them in place. Can you tell me what the recommended mixture is of potting soil and sand to do this type of scatter planting? |
| Actually, the mixing with sand is to make it easier to spread the seeds more uniformly. If you only have a tablespoon of seeds, for example, it's hard to spread them across a large area. They tend to get dumped all in one or two spots. There is no right or wrong on this, but usually mixing one part seeds to about 4 or 5 parts sand works. Good luck with your seed sowing! |
