What is the best way to transplant a jade plant. I've just inherited a very lovely yet large plant. It looks like the plant has outgrown its pot. Do they like to be root bound or not? |
Jade plants are perfectly happy when pot-bound. Transplanting isn't recommended unless roots are escaping from the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. Jade plants produce branching tops which can be quite extensive, often giving the plant a top-heavy look. Since you've just gotten the plant, allow it to become accustomed to its new location before feeding or repotting. You may decide it doesn't need to be placed in a larger pot, after all. |
