| What a novel idea! Unfortunately, it won t work. Some maple cultivars have gorgeous leaf color in the fall and others don t. It s genetic. For instance, Trident maples color beautifully but Big-Leaf maples only turn yellow, then brown. The intensity of color is controlled by environmental conditions - day length, temperature and drought. If you want lovely fall color, try planting Paperbark, Japanese, or Red Maple in your yard. |
