First, ants are terrific soil builders, aerating the soil for us, so if they aren't charging around in huge numbers, or biting, try to tolerate some of them! Here's an organic method for dealing with ants, but it works only in warm weather. Throw some orange rinds and water in a blender and make a slurry out of it. Immediately pour it in the ant hill. It gives off fumes that kill the ants. It must be used right away, or it loses its effectiveness. This may need to be done several times, but it is extremely low toxic.
