This is my first time growing any kind of vegetables. One of the veggies I have chosen is Carrots. My question is this: What does the seedling foliage look like when first growing out of the soil? I have been pulling small weeds throughout, but now I have a grassy looking type coming out where I planted the row of carrots...is this them? I have neglected to pull anything in the way of weeds where I've planted the row of carrots, until I know to recognize them as the seedling growth. Please advise. Thank You. |
Carrots look feathery and fine textured and look and feel soft. (They look similar to their weedy relative, Queen Anne's Lace, in case you would recognize that.) They can take several weeks to emerge from the soil. In the meantime, single bladed growth is likely to be a grass. |
