The Q&A Archives: What Is A Jewel Box Plant?

Question: Hi there! I bought a plant that is called a Jewel Box. I'm not sure what the Scientific name is but would like to know! Can you help? Thanxs so much-Kat Wiley

Answer: If it's an indoor plant, it's Bertolonia marmorata. These plants have heart-shaped leaves which are mossy green and furry. Some varieties have white stripes, and others have leaves splashed with silver. Care is easy - keep warm (minimum 60F in winter), provide bright light in winter; semi-shade in summer (no direct sun), mist leaves daily and keep soil moist but not soggy wet.
