I purchased a dolphin plant at a plant sale. When it blooms it has red flowers that look like dolphins. The foliage is a deep green and is on a long drooping stem. Can you tell me if it needs lots of water and how much light it needs? Thank you

Columnea has a number of common names; goldfish plant or dolphin plant are the most widely used. It's a houseplant and will thrive when given average household warmth, bright light but no direct sunshine, moist potting soil during the growing season (but water sparingly in the winter), and ample humidity. Mist the leaves daily to keep it happy.
