I am planning on using a hops vine as shade cover for my dog's kennel. Will the leaves or the fruit of the hops vine be toxic to my dog if she decides to eat them? Please reply soon...it is planting season now! Deb

Hops is a perennial vine and will make a great shade cover for your kennel. I have no information on possible toxicity, but hops is covered with spines so dogs will be discouraged from eating it. You might want to check with your Vet, just to make sure. For what it's worth, the hops fruit is used in making beer....
