| I have chain link fence around my yard and I would like to plant my rugosa roses along the fence. How far from the fence do I need to plant them? |
| Depending on the variety you select, you may need to allow at least 2 to 3 feet between the center of the plant and the fence just to accommdate its mature width. If you will need to get in between the roses and the fence to weed, to mulch, to do occasional pruning, or to maintain the fence, then allow additional space for that. You may also find that a neighbor does not appreciate the thorny growth of a rugosa popping through the fence and will trim it off when it encroaches over the property line, and want to allow for that, as well. |
