| My husband gave me 12 pots of blooming tulips for spring. I know I should let the foliage die back until they are brown , and then the directions say store in a cool place and plant in the fall. I don't have a cool place for them, and I was wondering if I could just plant them in the ground now instead of the fall. What would be the harm? Wouldn't they just come up in the spring again? What should I do? |
| You could plant them now, being sure to allow the foliage to grow and mature and dry naturally before removing it. There is one caution with tulips purchased in bloom and this is that sometimes the forced varieties are not great garden performers, so do not be too disappointed if they do not do all that well in the garden. |
