My tomato plants are beautiful. Loaded with flowers. They are drying up and falling off. There seems to be fewer insects this year. Was told too much water could also be a factor. Someone mentioned a spray to help set blossoms. Is there such a thing? Would appreciate your help. Thank you |
Lack of pollination is one reason for blossom drop on tomatoes, but cold nighttime temperatures will have the same effect. Or, it could be a combination; even with plenty of insect activity, if the nighttime temperatures are below 55F, the plant won't develop fruit. A blossom set for tomatoes is available, and can help the plant set fruit. Or, you can wait for slightly warmer weather and the blossoms should set fruit all on their own. Blossom set is available from Garden's Alive!, 5100 Schenley Pl., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025 (Phone 812-537-8650) |
