My wife heard that there was a plant called a mosquito plant that also helped to keep flies away. We have been unable to find a picture of such a plant, much less any plant referred to by that name in any of our plant books. Can you help out with a name, a picture would also be good and how to care for such a plant? Thanks. John |
There are several plants on the market that have been called the mosquito plant. These are usually scented geranium varieties with a citronella or lemony fragrance that is released when the plant is bruised or the foliage is torn. Theya re grown as houseplants and can be set outside for the summer. They are not very effective in pest control, so if you are having trouble with mosquitos you might want to consult with your county extension about how to control them preventively. |
