A friend of mine brought some zucchini seeds back from England, and planted them in the garden at the beginning of May, but they have yet to sprout. The rest of the garden is doing fine, watermelons, cucumbers, carrots and peas have all sprouted and are doing fine. Should the zucchini seeds be started indoors? Eric in Japan |
Zucchini usually sprouts promptly under conditions similar to that required by melons and other squashes, the primary factor being a warmed soil. I suspect there may be a problem with seed quality or storage/handling conditions, or perhaps if saved by your friend from a kitchen vegetable they were not yet mature when removed from the plant? |
