The Q&A Archives: Planting Caldium Bulbs

Question: I planted Caldium bulbs outdoors approximately 3weeks ago. So far there is no sign of any growth. How long should it take to see some sort of growth? Could I have put them in the ground wrong, what is the correct way to plant Caldium bulbs? At this point should I give up on the bulbs and look for Caldium plants?

Answer: Caladium tubers can take 30-90 days to sprout when kept at 75F-85F. Don't give up on them yet! When warmer weather arrives they should sprout for you. I sometimes start mine indoors in January so the plants are ready to go outdoors in early spring. Enjoy your caladiums!
