The Q&A Archives: Narcissus Bulb Fly

Question: My daffodil bulbs have turned soft and mushy and contain small worms? Is this the bulb fly and how do I get rid of the pest?

Answer: It certainly is disconcerting to find worms in your bulbs. The larva you found does sound like the maggot of the narcissus bulb fly. You can control the spread of the fly by digging up any bulbs you suspect may be infected and disposing of them.
