I recently purchased a home that borders a salt marsh. The lawn needs help, and I was wondering if there is species of grass that is more likely to flourish in the salty, sandy environment.

Perennial ryegrass and tall fescue are two species that are moderately tolerant to salinity. Your state wetland management agency can probably help you choose a native grass or turf type that is best for your situation. Sorry I can't be more specific, but if you get the info from the experts there in MA, you'll have the best chance of success. Best of luck!
