| The burning bushes prefer a full sun location (for best fall color) and will grow very large (8 feet high and wide), despite being called dwarf. They are also deciduous. Azaleas and rhododendrons grow to a wide range of mature height and width depending on the variety you are growing. These plants will prefer morning sun or dappled light all day. They require a humusy, acidic soil that is evenly moist yet well drained (meaning not soggy) in order to survive. They are also shallow rooted and as a result may not compete well with other more agressive shrubs. You could mingle them if you are prepared to space them according to their mature sizes and/or prune the burning bushes as needed. |
