I RECENTLY ACQUIRED ONE OF YOUR POODLE 2 TIER SHRUB/TREES. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL. I PURCHASED IT TO PUT IN A PLANTER NEXT TO THE DOOR. I HAVE PUT IT IN THE CONTAINER AND NOW WONDER IT IT NEEDS TO BE IN THE GROUND. I LIVE IN VIRGINIA WHERE THE TEMPERATURE COULD GO IN THE TEENS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Junipers are very cold hardy plants, however it would be best to insulate the container to simulate the protective effects of the soil during winter. Alternatively you could bury the container in the ground (in a well drained location) so that it is insulated from the temperature swings and does not freeze solid. Another option would be to take the risk of having it freeze, or consider it an annual, in order to enjoy its looks all winter.
