I would like to grow both morning glories and moonflowers in a container ancored to the top
of a 4 ft fence post, so they would cascade down the fence, rather than up from the ground
Will this work?

In my experience, these plants will try to grow outward and then bundle on top of themselves rather than trail nicely, they will also grow horizontally along the fence top as far as they possibly can. These vines are very large plants and as a rule do not do at all well in containers smaller than a half barrel which might be a bit heavy for the post. You might be happier with a different plant such as trailing vinca vine mixed with some flowers.
