I think I have a Mexican Bean Beetle but they aren't yellow or orange. They are light green with spots. Also they are difficult to squish because their shells are harder than anticipated and very quick! I tried spraying one with bug spray and he flew away. I don't have beans in my garden so could you please tell me what else they feed on? |
The Spotted Cucumber Beetle is greenish yellow with a small black head and 11 black spots on the back. Perhaps that's your insect? Adults chew holes in plant leaves, flowers and fruits, and the larvae eat roots and stems of plants. If you have a serious infestation, rotenone or pyrethrum based insecticides will control the pests. If you're finding only a few, leave them alone and a natural predator called a tachinid fly will help keep them in control. |
