I am trying to seed a spot in my lawn where a tree was
removed. I used some kentucky bluegrass seed that I had
for about 20yrs stored in the garage.
I am wondering how long it takes for the seed to germinate? I sowed the seed on the spot and then sprinkled
humus over it lightly, and have been keeping it moist for
a little over a week. Nothing seems to be coming up.
Do I need to buy new seed? Any suggestions would be accepted. Thanks Steve

Twenty-year-old seed is probably past its prime in terms of ability to germinate. Grass seed generally sprouts in 7-10 days when conditions are right. I'd invest in some quality seed and replant!
