Can you grow hosta plants from the flower that sprouts from their center in early summer and if so, what is the procedure? |
You can collect and sow the seeds from a hosta flower and they will produce new plants. Wait until the flowers fade and the seed pods turn a tannish-yellow color. Collect the seeds and sow in moistened soil outdoors (or seed starting mix indoors), just barely covering the seeds with soil. When kept at 70F, the seeds will sprout in 15-20 days. |
