Cytisus are very easy-care plants. They like full sun and little or no water once established in the landscape. Prune after bloom to keep your broom a reasonable size, and to reduce the production of seed pods. Wherever you cut the stems back, two new stems will develop. You can help your plant become bushy by cutting some of the stems back to the center of the shrub.
