My disco belle hibiscus was purchased a week ago. I have just noticed some leaves getting some large patches of tiny black dots on them. Any idea what could be causing these leaves to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help with this question!!!!!

It's hard to diagnose a problem without seeing it, but I wonder if the leaves have rust, a fungal disease. The spores can be brown, orange, yellow, or black. I'd pick off the affected leaves so the problem doesn't spread to healthy plant tissues. On the other hand, the dots could be tiny insects or insect eggs. Again, remove the affected leaves and that should stop the problem from spreading. Your plant will replace the leaves, as long as you don't denude it!
