The Q&A Archives: Pruning Grapes

Question: What is the best way to prune grapes and when. I live in South Jersey.

Answer: Grapes are usually pruned very hard each year, usually in late winter or very early spring. They are pruned so that only a few buds remain on the main trunk or stem. This controls the size of the vine and encourages heavier fruiting.
