| Festuca rubra, creeping red fescue, spreads by rhizomes and can be used alone or blended in with other lawn grasses. It's shade tolerant but grows best in full sunshine; can be mowed or left unmowed. It makes an attractive meadow on slopes. It's not fussy about soil but does need regular water for best growth.
