I think you are referring to Zephyranthes. It is a small bulb that shoot up a grassy-type foliage in attractive glossy-green clumps about six inches high. After rains, it usually flowers, hence the common name of rain lily. There are pink, white and yellow blooms, with other hybrids becoming more available. They are easy to grow and don't require much maintenance.
