I have violets growing around the "feet" of my hybiscus, do they like a shady foot, or should I pull out the violets?

Hibiscus won't mind sharing space with the violets. If you like them, leave them. The violets will cover the soil, crowding out weeds and helping slow water evaporation. In return, the hibiscus will shade the violets from hot summer sunshine.
