My strawberries are beeing eaten by ants and I don't know what to do, help!!!!! |
Ants, like bees, always seem to find tasty nectar in the garden and take it home to share. You may have to put bait out to get rid of the ants entirely, but they can be beneficial in the garden, so don't be too hasty. Ants cart off the bodies of dead insects, and they pollinate flowers quite by accident when they're crawling around on flowers and stems. Usually you can flood a garden bed once or twice and send ants packing - they prefer to nest in dry soil. If that doesn't work, mix some borax with some sugar and put it in jar lids. Set the baited lids throughout the garden. The ants will take some of this toxic food home and share it with others. Eventually the nest will be destroyed. |
