What would be a good plant to put in a pot next to my front door? It gets some sun in the morning and it is in a windy location. I live in zone 11.

Some plants tolerant of both wind and shade, and adapt well to container growing, include Agapanthus (Lily-of-the-Nile), Aloe, Cerastium, Lamium (dead nettle), Campanula portenschlaglana, Astilbe, Tradescantia, Alchemilla (lady's mantle) and Asarum (wild ginger). You may find other suitable plants; look first for shade tolerance and then for thick leaves that are not likely to be injured in the wind. Jasmine might even adapt to the situation - it's worth a try due to its fragrant flowers.
