I divided my spiderwort last fall and was rewarded with lots of vigorously growing plants. They're about a foot tall and have white flowers. They all got lots of buds, but only a handful of the buds ever bloomed. What's wrong with them?

Spiderwort is usually very reliable in the garden, so it may be a weather-related problem due to the dry spell we had. It could also be a fungal or pest problem infecting the buds. You might want to consult with your county extension (394-6851) and see if other people are reporting the same problem.
