Sunflowers grow easily in average garden soil in a sunny location. Plant the seeds outdoors where they are to grow, keep soil moist until they germinate. The plants will grow and bloom profusely, usually in about two months after planting. For a continuous supply of flowers, plant a few seeds each week up until about two months before your anticipated fall frost date.
