| I have two mini roses in planters they were doing well in full sun but I noticed that the sun was bleaching the red color out of the roses so I moved them to a shaded area. Now the bushes have dried branches the leaves are falling off and the flowers are very small. I did have a problem with aphids on the roses could that be the problem? |
| Moving your roses to a partly shady spot should not make the branches and leaves dry up. I think this might be due to lack of water or overfertilization. Roses generally thrive in full sunshine, but if bleaching occurs you can move them to a spot that will provide some shelter from hot afternoon sunshine. Roses in containers can require water once or twice a day, depending upon weather. And, if you treated the plants with an insecticide to get rid of the aphids, the treatment might have caused burning of the leaves. At this point, cut back all the dead branches, water faithfully, keeping the soil moist but not soggy wet, and give your plants 6-8 hours of full sunshine. (Filtered sunshine is okay after 2 p.m. With a little tender loving care your plants should recover from their ordeal! |
