Trumpet vine Campsis radicans is very easy to grow. It needs full sun all day long and average to good soil. It may be pruned in late winter or early spring as hard as needed to control its size, shape or direction. You may also want to remove seed pods in the fall to prevent seedlings germinating elsewhere in the yard. It blooms on the new growth of the season so do not prune it during summer. New plants grown from seed may take several years to settle in and bloom.
