Butterfly bushes do best in good garden soil and in full sun. They appreciate an application of complete fertilizer such as 10-10-10 and/or compost each spring. They can be pruned in the spring to remove any winter kill and then for shape/size as desired. They bloom on new wood of the season, so do not prune in summer. Be patient each spring as they may be late in coming into active growth. Enjoy your butterfly bush!
