Answer: The foliage is necessary for rebuilding the bulb's strength. It should be left in place to grow and mature and then fade and dry up naturally before you remove it. The longer it is left in place, the stronger the bulbs will be for better blooming performance next year. You could remove it when it is at least half way yellowed, but this causes a corresponding decrease in bulb vigor. The flowers on the other hand may be removed at any time.
