The Q&A Archives: Can You Dry Poppy Seeds For Planting From Immature Seed Pods?

Question: A friend gave me some poppy seedheads but they are still green and not ripe. Is there any way to ripen them myself so they can be planted?

Answer: Allow the heads to dry until the seed rattles inside. This will result in viable seed if the heads were mature enough when they were picked. It is certainly worth experimenting.
