Newly planted trees and shrubs usually require about an inch of water each week during the growing season. Don't water every day or you'll encourage the roots to remain near the surface of the soil instead of growing downward. When you do water, apply it slowly so it can percolate down into the soil and thoroughly wet the root mass. Then allow the soil to dry somewhat before watering again.
