Read your answer to this same question but in my case immaturity is not the problem. . I've had a burning bush for 4 years now and although it had doubled its size and is very healthy, the leaves *still* won't turn red. Ironically, I bought it in the fall when the leaves were red. It's in part shade and the soil is clay. I don't fertilize it but mulch it in spring and fall. Any ideas?
Answer: In my experience, these shrubs turn reddest when grown in full sun all day long. In a shady spot, the coloring is reduced and I suspect that is what is happening in this case.
