Can I cut my gladiolas back now that they are finished flowering, or should I let the foliage die back on its own, like I do with my daffodils? |
Underground corms are the storage organs for glads so it's best to allow the foliage to die back on its own before removing it. This will allow the transfer of the maximum amount of energy from the leaves to the corms, resulting in larger flower spikes next year. Leave the foliage alone until it withers, then remove it from the garden. |
