The Q&A Archives: Care Of Purple Fountain Grass In The Winter

Question: What, if anything, do we do with Purple Fountain Grass in the Winter. Last year we had cut them down almost to the ground and they didn't survive. We bought more and they are really growing, can we just cut them half down?

Answer: Unfortunately, while there are some hardy varieties of fountain grass, the Purple Fountain Grass is just not hardy in cold winter areas so cutting it or not cutting it will not make any difference.
