We have planted a yellow groove bamboo in our backyard this summer. Does it need any kind of winter protection? |
Yellow Grove Bamboo (Phyllostachys aureosulcata) is considered hardy to zone 5 or to minimum winter temperatures of about -10 to -20. Keep in mind that microclimate can have a significant effect on hardiness as well. Since it is newly planted, and new plants tend to be more sensitive to cold, you might want to mulch it well later in the season once the ground has frozen. |
