| We recently cut down a jacaranda tree and dug out the base core and trimmed the roots. We did not remove all of the roots. Will the tree re-sprout? |
| Historically, Jacaranda does not have an invasive root system and is not known to be an overly vigorous tree. You may see some sprouts come up from the roots in the first year, but if you cut these off, you'll discourage further growth. Tree roots need the energy obtained from the transfer of sugars during photosynthesis. If you keep the green sprouts cut down, photosynthesis cannot occur and the roots will soon run out of energy and will die. |
