| Do you recommend using vinegar diluted in water to break down the acid here in the Tri-City area of Washington? We've heard this suggested but haven't read this anywhere. If so , how much, how often? Thanks, PS |
| If you're concerned about your soils degree of acidity or alkalinity, a soil test is definitely in order! Recommendations for either lime or sulfur, and the frequency of application, are included in soil test results. Vinegar may change the soil pH for a brief period of time (until it's diluted with rain or water from the hose) but vinegar is acidic so you may be compounding an acidity problem if you add vinegar to your soil. For a real solution to a soil pH problem, have your soil tested so you know what you're working with, then correct the problem by amending your soil according to the recommendations.
