| Sanguinaria canadensis, or bloodroot, is a spring-blooming, herbaceous perennial. They are fairly adaptable to a range of soils, and will grow in both sandy and clayey soils as long as they are enriched with leaf mold or other decaying plant matter. Theybenefit from an organic mulch such as compost or peat moss. Bloodroot work well planted among shrubbery and beneath trees, as long as they are not in deep shade. They succeed in full sun as long as the soil is adequately moist. They look best when planted in large, natural-looking drifts. |
