I have heard differing opinions about lawn height. Do I mow the lawn shorter or keep it longer in the fall and winter? I have a Fescue lawn.

The secret to a healthy lawn is to keep the grass long enough to prevent the roots from being starved, but short enough to be attractive. Since growing slows in the cooler months, as does the process of photosynthesis, keep your grass just a little bit longer than you would during the summer months. I'd recommend about 1 1/4" inches in the winter and 1" in the summer.
